BITS PILANI TO SCAN TEMPLE WORKS
Hyderabad: Endowment department has asked well known BITS Pilani to undertake check on all going works in various temples across Andhra Pradesh.
A large number of works have been taken up in the major temples under Endowments Department. These works are at different stages and to ensure quality of the work executed, accuracy of the estimates prepared etc, the department decided to entrust the same to a third party.
On the request from the department, the Government approved BITS Pilani, Hyderabad to undertake the job.
“This is necessary to bring discipline among Engineers and
Executive Officers, ensure quality, bring down costs wherever
possible and take action against the guilty, if any, besides,
rectifying technical deficiencies in construction,” Mr K V Ramanachary, Principal Secretary, Revenue (Endowments) said.
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad a reputed Technology Institution in India
has been asked to verify the sanctioned estimates with reference to
standard data, standard schedule of rates etc., verify the structural soundness and structural designs, verify the quality of work being executed, check the provisions of the estimates and to suggest pruning of the provisions if any.
Endowments department, with the permission of State government, has agreed to pay 1.5per cent of fee on the value of work executed excluding the statutory fees to be paid to Government, furniture etc., but including electrical and mechanical items.
“As the works are already in progress at various stages, it is necessary to entrust the works to third party inspection, at an early date. BITS Pilani has been selected,” he disclosed.
