Theratpally, (Nalgonda): Exuding confidence that the BJP will form the government in Telangana state, party national president Amit Shah on Monday slammed the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti government for “failing” to take Centrally-financed schemes to the people, especially the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan toilet scheme.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is on the path of vikas (growth) and appealed to people to join Mr Modi’s vikas yatra and make TS the number one state in the country.

At a booth-level meet on the first day of his three-day tour of Nalgonda district, he unfurled his party’s flag at the statue of Gundagoni Mysaiah Goud, the BJP state secretary who was killed by Naxals. The intention of his visit, he declared, was to strengthen the party from the booth level upwards and woo all sections of people, especially the dalits, BCs, women and youth.

He was accorded a tumultuous welcome by BJP cadre and the entire village was decked up giving it a festive look.

Reach out like tsunami, workers told

He claimed that the BJP was the world’s largest party with 11 crore membership and there were BJP governments in power in 13 states. He said that through the Deendayal Upadhyaya Karya Vistaran Yojana, the party will spread to areas where it is not strong.

He told party workers to spread across the length and breadth of the state like a “tsunami”.

“The way the BJP is fighting in Telangana in the last two years, I am confident in the coming days that the BJP will form the government. Friends, under the leadership of Narendrabhai, the Central government has introduced several schemes for the poor, dalits, adivasis, youth, women, farmers and other sections of people,” the BJP national president declared.

“I interacted with some poor households in the village. I found that the Central government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan toilet scheme did not reach the people. As many as 4.5 crore toilets have been constructed for the poor in the country, but in Theratpally no such toilets were found,” he said. “This shows that the state government is not implementing Central schemes and taking them to people,” he said.

Amit Shah’s speech in Hindi was translated into Telugu by Telangana BJP president K. Laxman. Senior party leaders P. Muralidhar Rao, Saudan Singh Yadav and others were present.

“For all workers of the BJP in Telangana, this village is no less than a holy place. This is the place our leader Mysaiah Goud became a martyr and his statue was unveiled today in the village square. Friends, I have a three-day tour of Telangana as part of Deendayal Upadhyaya Karya Vistaran Yojana,” he said. He said party workers should go to every household and make it a BJP bastion.

Hyderabad: Making it clear that he was not satisfied with the functioning of the party in TS, BJP national president Amit Shah on Monday gave the TS BJP three months to gets its act together.

At the state BJP leaders meeting held in Nalgonda on Monday evening, he told the attendees in no uncertain terms that they have to take corrective steps immediately and he would take stock of the changes in his next trip to the state, scheduled for September.

He began the two-hour interaction with the TS BJP leaders by asking them to rate his day-long activity in Nalgonda. One of the leaders immediately said that it was excellent and the response from the people was tremendous. Amit Shah chided him and clearly expressed his disappointment at how the first day of the tour was organised by saying: “If this is your perception, I don’t think we will come to power in the next election.”

According to insiders, the BJP national president also made it clear that unless the party’s state leadership strengthens its base by publicising its ideology and policies, it would be very difficult for the BJP to grow in TS.

He also was not happy that the state unit expected other leaders to join the party. “Unless you are strong, and party is strong, we cannot expect somebody from other parties to come and develop it. You should first take steps to develop the party, then let us think of others,” he said.

Referring to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao spending public funds to fulfil his vows to Lord Venkateswara and other deities, Amit Shah asked the BJP state leadership why they were not critical about it. “You should hold the government accountable for spending public funds. Why did you not raise the issue?” he asked them.

He reportedly also took a dig at state BJP leaders for not using the mass defections by opposition legislators to the TRS as a weapon to corner the ruling party.

The BJP national president also took the party’s state unit to task on not completing 100 per cent appointment of booth-level committees till now, despite being warned to do so during his last meeting.

He said he would return to TS in September and he wanted the party to ensure all committees are constituted and functional in these three months. “Next time, I will be here for six days to rejuvenate the party so that we come to power in 2019,” he said.

NDA did more for Telangana: Amit Shah

Telangana given Rs 1 lakh-crore by Modi government, insists BJP chief.

Hyderabad: Brushing aside Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao demand for an apology, BJP national president Amit Shah on Wednesday stood by his statement that the Centre provided over Rs 1 lakh-crore aid to TS.

“I stand by what I said yesterday. The Narendra Modi government gave over `1 lakh-crore aid to Telangana. It’s a fact we are not doing a favour to Telangana. It is the right of Telangana people,” the BJP chief said.

He added, “Telangana people have a right over Narendra Modi government and it’s the duty of the Centre to develop Telangana. But people should know what Congress government gave and what we are giving. Should we tell the people or not? I modestly say we gave `1 lakh-crore more than the Congress.”

Amit Shah was addressing a booth-level committee meeting of Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency organised by the party at a function hall in Mehdipatnam that was attended by about 3,000 BJP workers.

Union ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya, TS BJP president K. Laxman, BJLP leader G. Kishan Reddy and other top brass of the party took a dig at MIM and asserted that the BJP can come to power in TS and win the Hyderabad LS seat. They also condemned the Chief Minister’s comments against Amit Shah.

“BP of our rivals is going up as our party is on expansion mode. They are worried. But I want to make it clear that the Deendayal Vistaran yojana is not to scare anyone and not to defeat anyone. It’s aimed at strengthening the BJP from booth level. We have the right to do so,” he said.

Amit Shah said though he held a press conference in Nalgonda on Tuesday on what PM Modi did for Telangana, confusion prevailed again following a statement by the CM on Wednesday.

“When the Congress was in power, 13th finance commission share in Central tax was meagre. Modi government raised it 10 times. Grant in aid was Rs 2,110 crore then, Modi government gave Rs 9,900 crore now. Local body grant in aid was Rs 249 crore, but now it’s 8,754 crore, we gave Rs 40,800 crore towards infrastructure projects,” he said.

Taking a swipe at the CM again, he said that the BJP rules Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Manipur and said that it will come to power in Telangana too.

“We lost in Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha, but our vote bank increased,” he said.

“Once BJP legislators had to be searched with binoculars. Today we are in power in 13 states, in alliance in four states, have 330 MPs, we are the biggest party, we have a government with absolutely majority.

Amit Shah sets Telangana BJP one goal: Victory in 2019 elections

Amit Shah targeted the ruling TRS and the Congress, and at times the MIM, but maintained silence on the Telugu Desam.

Hyderabad: BJP national president Amit Shah, who wound up his three-day tour of TS on Wednesday, has set a single point agenda—victory in 2019.
He targeted the ruling TRS and the Congress, and at times the MIM, but maintained silence on the Telugu Desam, presently an ally in both AP and TS.

Going by the direct attack on TRS government on release of funds and non-implementation of Central government schemes, the BJP president sent a clear message — ruling out an alliance with the TRS or the TRS joining the Union Cabinet.

At every given opportunity, he spoke to party leaders and asked them to sink their differences if any, focus on the goal, spread out to every village, town and city and spread the “Modi mantra” and take up burning public issues.

Though the BJP has an uphill task of starting from scratch to come to power, Amit Shah made it clear to the party leaders that nothing was impossible. The BJP has five MLAs and one MLC in the state.

“There has been great response to Amit Shah’s three-day tour of Nalgonda. His visit rejuvenated the party. Unable to digest the public response, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy has criticised him for raking up the Razakar issue,” Dr Laxman said.

Explaining the reason for choosing Nalgonda district for Amit Shah, he said Nalgonda was the most backward district, is fluoride-affected, lacks irrigation facilities and faces a host of other problems.

“Our focus is development while the Congress focus is minority vote bank. We can’t rewrite history,” Dr Laxman told DC.

He asserted that TS BJP leaders and workers will work in tandem to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National BJP president Amit Shah’s goals.

Strongly refuted rumours of differences with BJP Floor leader G. Kishan Reddy, Dr Laxman said, “It’s purely a creation of the media. We have been working for the party since the three decades. There are no differences between us.”
